Iglesia Santa Maria de Loreto Church

The Saint Mary of Loreto Church, is a Catholic Temple located in front of Central Square of the city of Achao in Chile. The Church overlooks that sea and is around two blocks from the coast. It is built in wood and was constructed by the Jesuits, members of the society of Jesus, in 1730 and it was rebuilt in 1784 after a fire. The Church is 46 meters long and 14 meters wide. The Saint Mary of Loreto Church is considered one of the oldest churches in Chile and its tower measures around 22 meters. The church is covered with wooden patterns and carved images and was built with wooden pegs rather than metal nails. It was declared a national monument in July 1951 and is a beautiful, historic and must see sight in Chile.
